News: Remodeling Secrets of Subcontractors to be Revealed During Las Vegas Design Center 'First Friday' Event November 6

(LAS VEGAS)—Subcontractors have a tendency to speak their own language, and Las Vegas Design Center at World Market Center Las Vegas is offering you the key to translate what they’re saying. The First Friday event, held November 6 in Building C-184, will include a panel discussion revealing subcontractors’ remodeling secrets.
The goal of the discussion is to give the design community insight into what goes on behind the scenes in a project so that they can best explain what to expect to clients, including issues such as unforeseen tasks and costs.
Four of Las Vegas’ premiere specialty subcontractors will address their areas of expertise, revealing hard-earned secrets and tricks of the trade. Michele Stuhmer of Sydney Designs will moderate the discussion. Stuhmer, a local designer with extensive remodeling experience, will facilitate a demonstration from each subcontractor, and lead a discussion about the relationship between the designer and client as it relates to subcontractors. Stuhmer will also address why full disclosure is important to a successful project.
The four featured subcontractors are:
· Avalante LLC will discuss topics related to wood finishes, paint, Venetian plaster and faux work.
· Pinnacle Architectural Millwork will delve into issues related to services you may not be aware that your subcontractor can perform for you in both commercial and residential projects that.
· Harney Hardwood Inc. will explain the process of refinishing rood floors and how to modernize the look of an older wood flood. Topics will also emphasize understanding wood as a commodity and the value of using a wood species that is readily available.
· Castle Cabinets will talk about the process of transforming an older cabinet job into a new or remodeled design using a variety of techniques for varying budgets and styles.
Each of the Nevada Subcontractors Network members presenting will give away a gift certificate for a free two-hour service call for their specialty trade.
The panel discussion will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 6 in the LVDC Seminar Room, C-184 at World Market Center Las Vegas, 495 South Grand Central Parkway.
