First Fridays, Divas of Design: The Great Lady Decorators, 1870-1955
August 6, 2010 10:00-11:30am
LVDC Seminar Room, C176
Ever wonder who the most influential women in the history of the American interior design trade are? Join us for a presentation and book signing by Adam Lewis, author of Great Lady Decorators: The Women Who Defined Interior Design, 1870-1955.
The first book to fully survey the complete history on the subject of the legendary lady designer's work from the 1870's through the 1950's, Great Lady Decorators (Rizzoli, New York, April 2010), examines the role of the twelve most influential women who helped shape the face of interior design. Describing their work in both a historical and social context, Lewis focuses on the extraordinary, glamorous interiors of these influential designers as well as their decorating theories on maxims from Rose Cumming's electric color combinations to Nancy Lancaster's refined English-country-house look.
